Beacons in the Far North



The councillors of Shetland have voted to award £250k to a university-based project to boost the creative industries in their locality. A report in Shetland News indicates something of how work, space, access and encouragement could well release considerable potential and create jobs in the future. Broadband has helped eliminate some of the constraints of working from a distance. There's much to harness by willing spirits and constructive attitudes. The Mareel in Lerwick (below) is an example of a large-scale construction that inspires creative endeavours.
